3.Is the Topic Popular? - In spite of all the above point, this is also very important because you are writing for people and not for yourself and therefore the people looking for information on your niche the greater you chance of success
4. Is the Niche Growing or Shrinking? - You also have to make sure you research the trends on your niche to make sure that it's not fading out, a niche that is shrinking can suddenly one fade out totally and that means that people are will no more be looking for information on the niche. So, if you have choosing such a niche then you blog will also go down and fade away with your fading niche
5. What’s the Competition? - You'll also want to make sure that you know how competitive is the niche. Take for instance you choose a niche that's already totally saturated, your chances of success in that niche will be very slim, except you are such a pro on that niche in which case it will still take you a long time of hard work to really be a profitable blog

I think that finding your niche is the hardest thing to do when you are first starting out online. You either follow the crowd of people who are already making money on the internet (and possibly get bored out of your mind) or you base it around something that you enjoy talking about that might not be as popular and risk not making any money.
It's a balance that is hard to find, but once you do, not only will you be happy writing about something you love, you will be making money from doing it. Sounds like the perfect job to me.
